Marbled crayfish - an underestimated danger

written by Redakteur

Recent events have prompted me to issue a warning regarding marbled crayfish here.

Marbled crays carry crayfish plague and reproduce parthenogenetically (which means a female reproduces all by itself, without the need to be fecundated by a male). This makes them even more dangerous to natural ecosystems.

Invert tanks and going on holidays

Summertime... And the living is easy... Holiday season is approaching or in full swing. Many invert keepers are wondering what to do with their animals while they're away on holiday.

In general: Inverts do far better with little food than with too much. Too much food has an excessively negative impact on water quality and the bacterial load of the water- two factors that can cause severe problems, especially for shrimp.
